Basics of Management : 2nd Part of Management 2015 Book
Managing External Environment, Organizational Culture, Global Environment, Diversity, Social Responsibility, Ethics, Change & Innovation are considered crucial basics of management in today’s workplace. These elements are the components of the 2nd part of the Management Book (2015-U.S.A., 13th Edition, Robbins & Coulter, Pearson). This book is the first one in our channel: Management with Merits – Manage to Prosper, which targets Arab people to equip them with the managerial & leadership competencies and skills to prosper and achieve their dreams. In the last video & post, we discussed the 1st part of the book “Management in Today’s Workplace”, where we discussed the Nature of Management, Management History & Decision-Making. In this video, the basics of management mentioned above are extremely crucial in today’s management.

Brief Explanation of Basics of Management:
1.Managing External Environment & Organizational Culture:
The external environment denotes the conditions within which the organization works which generally can’t be controlled or altered, such as the political, social, demographic & economic environment. Managing the external environment effectively by carefully monitoring the environment, collecting information and analyzing it is very important in effective management. These elements will be discussed in one of the channel’s books, which is the “Strategic Management, 2017 – Fred & Forest R. David, Pearson, U.S.A”. With respect to organizational culture, we discussed it before in a previous book, which is: Organization: Behavior, Structure & Processes”. The book is fourth in the 1st year of the channel.

2.Managing in the Global Environment:
A lot of global products are extremely popular around the world, such as Iphone, Galaxy, Gillette … The innovation of these products is a result of effective global management, which is one of the important managerial basics nowadays. This topic will be fully discussed in one of the channel’s books, which is: “International Management 2017, Helen Deresky, Pearson, U.S.A.”

3.Managing Diversity:
Diversity is simply having a unique mixture of employment workforce with reference to age, gender, religion, abilities/disabilities … This diverse workforce is one of the most important management basics because it ensures having the most talented workforce who collaborate with each other effectively to achieve common organizational goals.

- Managing Social Responsibility and Ethics:

As long as the organization works within a society, it has a humanitarian and business responsibility towards this society by effectively participating in the prosperity and wellness of it. Thus, managing social responsibility is one of the basics of management in today’s workplace. In addition, managing ethics and doing business ethically are parts of organization’s sustainability and crucial aspects of management in today’s workplace. These issues will be discussed in details in one of the channel’s books, which is: “Organizational Ethics, Craig E. Johnson, Sage Publications, U.S.A., 2019”.

5.Managing Change & Innovation:
One of the books that we introduced before (below link) discusses organizational change that helps the organization to be agile and responsive to the current dynamic environment. Innovation is an important part of organizational change, and one of the required skills for modern management. The 3rd book in our channel: Organizational Theory, Design & Change talks about change in details.
