The Yemeni Entrepreneur Dr. Pharmacist Anhar Arramadah : Establishing (Hanjamah Food) – A Nutritional Business in Yemen
Nutritional business in Yemen has become popular recently. Thus, some Yemeni entrepreneurs, especially ladies, have utilized this positive trend and established their own new ventures. Our female guest for today, the Yemeni pharmacist Dr. Anhar Arramadah, demonstrates a bright example in the nutritional business in Yemen via establishing her new project: Hanjamah Food for Healthy Food, Sana’a. She has utilized her outstanding skills in preparing local & international dishes, as well as her pharmaceutical major, in establishing her nutritional business. We are pleased to invite her in your channel Management with Merits – Manage to Prosper within the service of “Meeting Managers & Leaders”. She is the 2nd female entrepreneur appearing in the channel, after we interviewed Hawazen (photographer) in our last meeting. Our aim from such meetings is to explore management, leadership and entrepreneurship in reality by talking to the practitioners who share their practical experiences with us. As a result, this meeting enhances and supports our current discussion of the 2nd book in the channel “Entrepreneurship 2016”. This meeting was held at Palm Café, Sana’a, the best café in Yemen. The Entrepreneurial Process of “Hanjamah Food” within the Nutritional Business in Yemen
Our guest provides a practical example of the entrepreneurial process that we are currently discussing in the channel, which consists of 3 major steps and several minor tasks under them. We will briefly comment on that by showing the 1st and 2nd steps because we have almost covered them completely in our previous sessions.
Anhar stated that she had decided to become an entrepreneur due to her belief that working as an employee had not allowed workers to develop their skills and creativity. Besides, she noted that her belief in the idea of providing variety of local & international tasty and healthy food had been strongly needed in the society. As a result, she started her entrepreneurial journey, along with her friends (partners) despite the various difficulties that she faced, especially from sarcastic people who commented that such an idea (food preparation) was a waste because it was not appropriate or suitable with Anhar’s educational level (bachelor in pharmaceutical science), of course from their short-sighted point of view.
Second Step: Developing Successful Business Ideas (Opportunities & Ideas, Feasibility Analysis, Business Model, Industry & Competitors’ Analysis, Writing Business Plan):
We would like to note here that all of these tasks and topics were discussed in the channel in our previous posts & videos, except the last one (Writing Business Plan), which will be discussed in the next session. In fact, Anhar’s project has demonstrated these tasks extremely well. Despite her belief in the importance of her idea, as well as her confidence in her knowledge and skills in the proposed nutritional business, Anhar followed operational intelligence in her journey. First, she noticed that people appreciated all the dishes that she and her friends (later the project team) prepared. Thus, this experience, combined with appropriate environmental and business scanning, guided their path to give a name for the business (via Abeer, one of the partners) and specify its specialty. Second, their feasibility analysis indicated that their idea was worthy, so they ensured to focus on filling a current gap in the food industry in Yemen, which was preparing local and international valuable, healthy and tasty dishes at home. Third, they built their business model, which was based on working privately and closely with customers who seek healthy, tasty & lovely home-made food. Fourth, their industry and competitors’ analysis guided them to focus on an area that made them better than all competitors in the local nutritional industry, which was combining health, value and taste in home-made local & international food. All in all, their entrepreneurial process was done with rigor and care, along with passion & love.
Nutrition Business in Yemen – A Favorable Area for Ladies – Challenges, Solutions & Advice for Yemeni Female Entrepreneurs
Despite the great Yemeni ladies’ initiatives in entrepreneurship (like Anhar), there are several problems that prevent them from launching their new ventures. Similar to our last meeting with Hawazen, our guest expressed her opinion and feedback on this matter. She stated that many people believed in the negative role of the society’s perception towards Yemeni women. However, her point of view was that Yemeni ladies lack of self-confidence was the major obstacle. She emphasized that Yemeni ladies had great and exceptional abilities and skills, so they could excel in any field, including entrepreneurship. Thus, she strongly advised all Yemeni ladies to believe in themselves, ignore people’s negative discouragement, and work hard to achieve their dreams.
Finally, Anhar expressed her thanks for the channel and its work in presenting successful Yemeni entrepreneurs, as well as the channel’s positive role in knowledge sharing. Consequently, she strongly encouraged all viewers to watch, follow, share & support the channel to gain the fruitful benefits of development and prosperity. Therefore, we are also happy and thankful to invite and meet her and learn from her business “Hanjama Food”. Besides, we are thankful to Palm Cafe’ for their hospitality, especially Mr. Wassem Azziady, the general manager. Also, thanks to Tushreen Studios in Sana’a for shooting and production.
That was our session for today. Next session, we will continue discussing Entrepreneurship Book (2016), the 2nd step in the entrepreneurial process (Developing Successful Business Ideas), by explaining the last task of it (Writing Business Plan).
